Arts Open Call

Tir Canol is offering artists an opportunity to develop and/or deliver work which aims to (re)connect communities to the landscapes in our area of Mid Wales. We are seeking emerging and established artists from any discipline who have a connection to this landscape and work in a socially engaged way. This can be used to facilitate a residency, create a piece of work, deliver creative engagement and events, or anything else.

Selected artists will be expected to spend a total of one month working in the Tir Canol area between September 2026 and February 2027. This can be undertaken in one block, or spread throughout the period. There is a £3000 artist fee.

This open call is deliberately open, in the application form you can set your own intentions and we will offer you support to deliver these within the timeframe. This opportunity is open to artists of any discipline, from visual art to performing art to community art. It is also open to any career stage.

We expect to see some demonstrable engagement with the community. This could be through conversations, workshops, events, or any other means. The main aim of this opportunity is that it should aim to reconnect communities with the landscape.

Artists must understand and respect the wildlife, ecology, and heritage of the area.
