Wild Wood Tales in Taliesin
with Mair Ifans and Maia Thomas

Delve into local folklore, learn about ancient trees, and hone your storytelling skills at this event in Taliesin.
Accompanied by storyteller Mair Ifans and Ancient Tree Inventory (ATI) verifier Kirsten Manley we will take a walk through local woods, to learn about ancient trees, and listen to some of the stories they might be trying to tell us…
Then we’ll decamp back to Llanfach Hall for soup, and to begin to weave some new stories together with illustrator Maia Thomas.

Dyfi talk and draw
with Peter Dennis and Dorry Spikes

What do you know about the habitats and species which live in the Dyfi estuary?
As part of the Changing Tides project and exhibition, Tir Canol are hosting a talk and draw event with ecologist Peter Dennis and local artist Dorry Spikes. This event is an opportunity to hear about some incredible species and then observe and draw them yourself.

Woodland surveys on your land by our nature officer
Throughout the winter of 2023/2024, our Nature Officer is carrying out condition surveys of woodlands in areas south of the Dyfi estuary. The surveys are targeted at understanding what state our incredibly special Oak woodlands are in, the temperate rainforest of Wales, and also at assessing what suitable habitat exists for some of the priority bird species that rely on these special habitats, such as Pied flycatchers and Wood warblers. The work will feed into an upcoming report on the ‘State of Wales’ Rainforests’, and is also a great opportunity to engage with landowners in the area to provide support or advise on woodland management.
